Leadership
- The Center is led by a Director and Deputy Directors as prescribed.
- The Director is accountable to the Director General of the Department and before the law for all activities of the Center; issues decisions on the functions, duties, powers and organizational structure of the Center's divisions; and issues the unit's internal rules and regulations.
- Deputy Directors assist the Director in overseeing and directing areas of work assigned by the Director, and are accountable to the Director and before the law for their assigned areas.
Divisions
1. Organization and Administration Division
In charge: Hoang Kim Thoa – Deputy Head, acting head of division
Handles personnel, labour and wages, and staff policies; occupational safety and health; internal political security; administration and facilities, records and archives; emulation, commendation and discipline; and inspection, examination and supervision in accordance with current regulations.
2. Planning and Finance Division
In charge: Do Duc Thang – Deputy Head, acting head of division
Advises and assists the Director on planning for geological tasks; norms, unit prices, materials and equipment, construction and repairs; manages, guides, inspects and runs finance, accounting and statistics for state-assigned geological tasks and the Center's service activities; and manages internal affairs including science, engineering and technology, expert examination and quality management of sample analysis, and international cooperation.
3. Expert Examination and Quality Management Division
Head: Nguyen Thi Phuong
Analyzes the chemical composition of geochemical, water and environmental samples, materials, alloys and other geological samples by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), and analyzes precious, rare and some radioactive elements by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).
4. Chemical and Environmental Geochemical Analysis Division
Head: Ly Thanh Nam
Analyzes the chemical composition of metallic and non-metallic minerals, coal, materials, alloys, and precious and rare elements by atomic absorption and fire assay.
Researches technological procedures, develops methods on the relevant instruments, takes part in science and technology projects, and prepares geological reference materials and blank samples for the quality control of geological analysis and testing.
5. Mineralogical Analysis Division
Head: Lai Thi Bich Thuy
Analyzes mineral composition by X-ray diffraction, differential thermal analysis, electron microscopy, petrographic thin sections, ore microscopy, heavy mineral concentrates and fluid inclusions.
Conducts basic mineralogical research; researches and tests methods for processing mineral raw materials for economic development; and studies technical and technological samples.
Prepares geological and mineral samples for analysis, packs control samples, and stores and preserves samples as prescribed.
6. Geotechnical Analysis Division
In charge: Nguyen Thi Thu Quynh – acting head of division
Analyzes and tests the physical and mechanical properties and whiteness of soil, rock, ore and construction materials, and compiles and processes data for engineering geology surveys and geohazard assessment.
7. Geological Verification Division
Head: Nguyen Van Hoan
Supervises the execution of geological works, and inspects and accepts the volume and quality of geological work products.
